Local Champions receive Golden Bear Awards

 

Phoenix College recently announced its 2008 Golden Bear Champions and recognized these individuals and organizations for their contributions and support to Phoenix College. Association Amigos Medios Hispanos de Arizona (AAMHA) received the Scholarship Donor award. In 2007 AAMHA selected Phoenix College to be the sole beneficiary of funding through scholarship for students who cannot qualify for State or Federal Financial Aid. Phoenix College will continue to be the sole beneficiary of funding raised by AAMHA. Tim Valencia and Phoenix Workforce Connection were recognized as the Community Organization Partner. Valencia and Phoenix Workforce Connection were instrumental in providing a new summer youth, non-credit, Pharmacy Technician program. Roberto Reveles, former president of Somos America received the Community Leader award. Reveles was instrumental in bringing to Phoenix College a Genetics Project Town Hall, which is being hosted by the Raul H. Castro Institute.
