Gustavo Arellano has writen a book about his close relationship with Orange County

Change agent Orange

.

Which is fair, because America has a love/hate relationship with his column, Mexicans, and Mexican Americans like Gus.

Arellano weaves his own family history with that of Orange County, which also spawned Disneyland, Richard Nixon, the Ku Klux Klan and a horrible TV show, The O.C.

Arellano calls his county the “beaner-bashing capital of America.” (Some may argue that Maricopa County is competing for the title).

The author contends that it’s poetic justice and a wonderful irony that Orange County is undergoing an inevitable “brownification” as the Latino population inexorably increases.

Arellano’s second book entertains because of his unique sense of humor, as well as the explanation of the origins of his writing career and !Ask A Mexican!
