It’s the Día de los Muertos season, and nobody is closer associated with the holiday than artista Zarco Guerrero. The Mesa native and his wife, Carmen de Novais, founded Xicanindio, which staged the first modern Day of the Dead festival in Pioneer Park in 1980. Now he’s produced a beautifully designed and colorful 8” x 8” book titled We Decorate the Dead. Based on a narrative poem by Zarco, the book features 35 photos and illustrations, as well as some history about the holiday and the artist. Visit www.zarkmask.com to buy it.
